    Hello,
My name is Aubrey Rahab Gerhardt, writing on behalf of the South Jersey Poets Collective. SJ Poets is a group of local poets who gather on a monthly basis for open Mic Nights at Dante Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. We would be thrilled if you would consider being a featured poet at one of our upcoming Open Mic Nights. The evening would begin at 7pm with an open mic segment and then you would have ½ hour at the end of the open mic to perform as the featured poet.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer to pay you for your presence at this event. I hope that perhaps the idea of inspiring local poets who are attempting to revitalize poetry in the South Jersey area is something that might excite and intrigue you enough to join us.

    SJ Poets
The South Jersey Poets Collective is dedicated to sustaining a community of artists interested in writing and sharing their poetry on a monthly basis. This group of unique individuals comes together with great cohesion to inspire and energize each other. Some might say that making a choice to live in South Jersey sacrifices any possibility of being a part of the arts scene. The South Jersey Poets Collective proves that geography does not determine the fate of a movement. These are working mothers, poker players, delivery drivers, librarians, swim instructors, professors. These are the waitresses who serve you your coffee. These are the social workers, nurses, yoga instructors who write poems on scraps of paper during their lunch breaks. These are the people who are living, working, loving and writing all come together in a free venue to produce that which can not be bought or sold. These poets are reinventing themselves, reintroducing poetry to fill a growing void in our culture. The South Jersey Poets Collective creates an experience that pulls you into a scene that larger cities would be hard pressed to duplicate. Anyone interested in joining need only show up to become a part of this ever expanding, all inclusive group.

    World Above

    https://www.facebook.com/sjpoets
The South Jersey Poets Collective hosts “World Above: Open Mic Poetry Nights” on a monthly basis. As Dante ascends from the Inferno & rises from the shadows he finds himself “in a world above”. This is where we exist, speaking our poetry.
These open mics are open to the public for free. Poets will have three minutes on the mic & can sign up on our FB page to read or at the open mic. Poems will not be screened. We ask that if you are reading that you be respectful of those around you while remaining honest to yourself. No threatening, racist, homophobic or hateful messages of any sort will be tolerated. Please be advised that this series is recommended for adults due to the potentially mature nature of the poems read.

    Dante Hall

Richard Stockton College-Dante Hall Theater is an intimate 240-seat performing arts center that serves Atlantic City and surrounding communities as a vital cultural venue. Enjoy live concerts, professional and amateur theater and performing arts, children’s theater and much more.

    Thank You for your consideration,
    Aubrey Rahab Gerhardt
